In 2020, Raf Simons began to feel a twinge of nostalgia. After continually pushing his aesthetic forward, he briefly looked back—just before closing his own label to concentrate on Prada—by reintroducing details and silhouettes from his most iconic, highly coveted archival pieces. It was his way of taking a final bow on a brand that had become a modern classic.
The sweatshirt-cape hybrid in question originally appeared in the A/W 2004 “Waves” collection and was reissued in SS '21. Despite its XS tag, its oversized cut allows it to flatter every size.
